Inesperado encontrar el disco Melcochambre sónico de Los Margaritos -que está disponible para bajar desde su MySpace- hojeando las listas de lo mejor del año por los invitados de Pitchfork. El disco fue mencionado por Dean Spunt del dúo No Age, quienes tocaron en el Garage este año. Otros mencionados en esa lista: Mika Miko, Animal Collective y Dinosaur Jr.

Más adelante del mismo artículo, Matías Aguayo menciona la compra de discos en Monterrey como la segunda cosa más chida de su año:

One of the highlights for me this year was record shopping in Monterrey, Mexico. It is easier to find old Cumbia vinyls in Monterrey than it is in bigger cities of Colombia, where the music originally comes from. Mexico is crazy for Cumbia, and in Monterrey they pitch it down, to make the groove heavier and make it sound more bassy. So whenever I picked a Cumbia vinyl and gave it to the guy at the record shop to play it out loud, he would pitch it down to -8. When you buy CDs at the markets, they are already pitched down on the recording, and very often it is edits, where the drum part is prolonged or the song made longer anyway, kind of 12″ versions. Asking why their (obviously self-burned) CDs were more expensive than at other stands, they told me, “That is because [they are] collector’s items.
